The Velumount anti snore brace must be individually adjusted and fitted. The first consultation may take 1 to 1.5 hours until the brace fits correctly. The cost for this inititia appointment includes the brace (Velumount original and / or Velumount Intro) as well as follow-up appointments. "Prices".
The costs are usually not covered by health insurance. Ordinary snoring is not considered a disease and therefore is not covered by compulsory health insurance. However, some health insurances retroactively reimburse part of the costs for those with the medical condition such as Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, if the success of the therapy is documented and authenticated by a medical Sleep Assessment evaluation.
No. The Velumount products must be individually and precisely fitted to your anatomy of the Pharynx. After a few nights with your new Velumount product, the form might have to get adjusted depending on your comfort in a first follow up appointment. Over time your anatomy is changeing and we advise to make an check up appointment every 2 years in order to make possible adjustments to the form. The first 3 follow up appointment after the initial fitting are free of charge, afterwords we will charge a fee.
Velumount products have a useful life of 6 months.
During the fitting of the brace and/or in the following days, pain when swallowing or a slight sore throat may occur. These should subside within approx. 2 hours. If these complaints do not disappear within a few days, please call us immediately for a check-up appointment.
The CPAP therapy is the medically most accepted and effective therapy for breathing interruptions during sleep. However, for those people who are intolerant to CPAP, Velumount can be an alternative with few side effects. Snorers who experience breathing interruptions must in any case have their sleep quality measured professionally in order to verify if the Velumount is a success.
Yes, with the brace adapted to your anatomy, you can speak and drink without any problems.
Velumount is based on the principle of stabilizing the tissue in the soft palate. With Velumount you can speak, drink and have full freedom of movement. The fit of Velumount is independent of the dentition. The other braces on the market are based on the principle of jaw advancement. With the so-called jaw advancement splints, you can neither speak nor drink. A mandibular advancement splint can only be fitted if the dentition is good.

Yes, the Velumount brace has been tested by Swissmedic and has been approved as a medical device with a CE certification.
The silicone used has been tested and certified for its biocompatibility for medical applications. There are no plasticizers that are hazardous to health. The wire is certified for dental use and does not contain nickel, which could cause allergies.
Velumount braces are fully manufactured at the headquarters in Bern, Switzerland, (cut, marked, assembled and shaped). All materials are sourced in Switzerland, in exceptional cases sourced in the EU region. Thus, all Velumount products are "Made in Switzerland".
Yes, the Velumount can be worn with a grinding splint. We recommend to bring the grinding splint to the initial fitting.
